Christmas Cinnamon Candle

Today I thought I would share an easy peasy Christmas DIY project with you and this is a great way to re-vamp any old or boring candles you have in your home.

You will need:

  • a candleIngredients...
  • some cinnamon sticks
  • decorative wire
  • ribbon
  • hot glue

Start by wrapping the decorative wire around the bottom half of the candle, over and over in as random or uniform pattern as you like.

The decorative bullion wire we use comes in a variety of colours so you could match that and your ribbon to go with your Christmas colour scheme.

The wire around the candle also helps when you start gluing the cinnamon sticks on as it gives the glue something to grab hold of.

Gluing cinnamonBeing careful not to burn your fingers, stick each cinnamon stick around the base of the candle, allowing the glue to dry on each one before turning the candle otherwise they slip and slide all over the place!

Also, make sure the cinnamon sticks are level with the base of the candle so it doesn’t wobble about once its stood up.

Even base...

Now all that is left to do it tie some pretty ribbon around the middle of the cinnamon, which not only looks lovely, but helps to keep all the sticks where they are supposed to be in case any glue comes unstuck!

Display your candle on a large plate and scatter some pine cones around to finish.  Once the candle is lit, do not leave burning unattended and extinguish the candle before it reaches the cinnamon sticks – decent church candles will usually take a good few hours before you have to replace them.
